2011 year in review

2011 and PACC Marches On!

A hard year for our country, with continued unemployment, hardships for families and abandonment for pets, yet PACC911 had an exceptional year!

Adoptions were up at all our Adopt-A-Thons! In fact, 2011 produced over 800 adoptions at our PACC911 events.

Since 2004 to date 6,300 animals have been placed into loving homes because of PACC911 events! And the number will grow as we enter our next season.

This year we also decided to start tracking the adoptions for our partner groups combined, to show the force that the RESCUE COMMUNITY has become. Many were amazed that 15,600 animals were adopted out in 2011 by PACC911 rescue partners who reported (some did not report). Congrats to each of the organizations who have done such amazing work saving these precious lives one at a time and giving them a second chance at life!

2011 was also a year where PACC stepped out of its normal role to help with the Wallow Fire. As the fire was consuming the most beautiful mountain countryside, devouring its wildlife, and threatening homes, families and pets, PACC911 mobilized and set up distribution points for donations of pet food and supplies, arranged for transportation up the mountain and was a major force in helping the devastating situation.  Thousands of pounds of food, hay and bedding were sent up the mountain, along with cash donations to our mountain partner groups assuring the safety of those companion animals who were lost or left behind. The community was amazing and generous and rallied with PACC911 to help.

This could not have been done without help from Villa La Paws who offered us the space for the distribution points and helped with the collections. We thank Tom Murray and his staff for being such good partners and PACC911 supporters! The media was great helping us to get the word out! PACC was in the news!

2011 was also the year of the cookbook! In October, after 18 months in the making, Simply Delicious, Too was published and hit the Valley like a storm! The 500+ page book has been a sensation and has already sold close to 2,000 copies to Valley residents and local businesses. Great recipes, photos, information and even poetry grace the pages of this book, which retails for just $25. These proceeds help the EMF fund which assists PACC Partners with veterinary expenses. Surely a win-win when the book is purchased! Simply Delicious, Too is sold at all PACC911 events, many expos that we also participate in and in a number of valley retail stores such as Duck & Decanter on Camelback, Two Plates Full at the Borgatta in Scottsdale, Kiss Me Kate in Phoenix and in some AJ’s Fine Food locations! The book can also be ordered on our website in the PACC911 store. To date the book has netted over $80,000 for the Emergency Medical Fund.

Bowlarama was its usual success this year despite the bad economy, helping the rescue community to raise $250,000! Most of this money goes directly to the PACC Partner groups who participate!

Our Pizza for Pups at Grimaldis Pizza had a great crowd this year of about 100 hungry PACC supporters and helped us raise yet more money. All for our EMF fund! And, this year PACC also introduced a photo contest for our new wine label - lots of fun, great wine and beautiful labels for the new PACC Estate Wines! Yes, there is always a project going on!

We work hard to continue to bring money in for the animals via these fundraising events which will continue in the foreseeable years! PACC encourages our partner groups to support these efforts as the monies raised are then disbursed to them as needed through the EMF! This year the EMF has paid out over $70,000 to help sick and injured animals. Since 2004, we are in excess of $435,000 paid out!

PACC continues also to find new avenues to help the partner groups under our umbrella. This year we discovered some medical supplies that now can be donated to the rescue community which were otherwise being discarded. Just another way to help the animals by assisting the groups.

It has been a busy and productive year for us with heartbreaks (as there always will be), but many successes to keep our spirits happy. And we keep marching on…
